Yellow Cat Tea Room

Bob Sargent, a former Wallingford High School teacher emailed us these pictures of the Yellow Cat Tea Room  in Wallingford.

According to Sargent, the Yellow Cat Tea Room was run by Ruth Kirk (nee Alexander) in and about 1920. If anyone wants to add anything to it, I am sure we would all be interested in learning more about it.

My husband’s mother, Dorothy Arnold, was a cake maker at “The Yellow Cat Tea Rooms “in Kensington from 1933 to 1938. My guess is that “Yellow Cat Tea Room” did very well in Wallingford in the 1920’s and moved to Kensington a few years later. There was a second tea room as well by that name on Donovan Court in Drayton Gardens, opposite the Forum cinema, in the 30’s. Business must have been good!
